Risk management and financing

When you conduct trade internationally, there are always elements of risk which must be taken into consideration. Is the issuing bank able to pay? Is there a danger that the importer's country will impose import restrictions so that you will not get your money on time?

Danske Bank can offer to cover these risks for you throughout most of the world, in the following ways:

Confirmation
When Danske Bank confirms a documentary credit at the request of the issuing bank, it means that Danske Bank guarantees payment when you comply with the requirements of the documentary credit.

Danske Bank's guarantee of the payment means that you are no longer dependent on the issuing bank's ability or will to pay, nor will you be affected if the country suddenly stops payments or other unforeseen problems arise.

Silent confirmation
Even if the issuing bank does not request Danske Bank to confirm the documentary credit, it is still possible for you to secure your payments.

Danske Bank can usually offer you a silent confirmation that will put you in exactly the same position as if the documentary credit had been confirmed. The only difference is that the issuing bank has not requested Danske Bank to confirm the documentary credit.

Financing
If you have a documentary credit with deferred payment (the buyer has received credit time), but you would like payment immediately, Danske Bank can usually offer to buy your outstanding debt with a deduction of interest and commission at a competitive rate.
