The goods sometimes arrive before the documents, especially when the goods are sent by air or lorry.
If the goods are consigned to Danske Bank, the importer can assume possession of the goods if Danske Bank releases them.
By having the goods released, the importer commits himself to approving and paying against the documents, irrespective of whether they conform to the conditions of the documentary credit.
